We Are Human

Started as a project for Outburst Arts Festival in Belfast, proposing a 5 year project to challenge the preconceptions of what it means to be Trans*.

The first year (2013) involved posters on bus shelters, to look at what people expected it was to be Trans* and challenge this. Also one of our members did a life performance though the city centre with others taking pictures of the general public’s reactions https://www.flickr.com/photos/110018891@N02/sets/72157638155033605/

The second year (2014) involved a 2 minute video called …like a ball of wool.

The video explores and disrupts the preconceptions that are often made when we look at someone’s face or hear their voice.

After being successfully shown on the big screen outside Belfast City Hall, the video has also been shown at The Belfast Film Festival and selected by BFI to pilot a new scheme during the Flare LGBT festival in London.

You can follow the progress of the video on its dedicated Facebook page

The third year (2015) project has just been submitted for approval and will post more information as it becomes available.
